Storylines
- Mizzou is coming off its first win over Xavier since Nov. 24, 2001, as the Tigers downed the Musketeers, 71-56. The Tigers led by as many as 29 points, which was the Musketeers' largest deficit of their season. Cuonzo Martin improved to 3-1 all-time vs. Xavier.
- Mizzou limited Xavier to just 27 points in the first half on Tuesday, marking the Tigers' third consecutive game holding an opponent under 30 points in the opening half. Mizzou is surrendering just 24.7 points in the first half over its last three games.
- Mizzou has held opponents to 69 or fewer points 28 times in the Martin era, which amounts to 65.1 percent of the games with him at the helm. When the Tigers have done so this season, they are 7-0.
- The Tigers are now riding their third win streak of four or more games during the Martin era. Before Martin took over at the helm, Mizzou hadn't accomplished that feat since the 2013-14 campaign. Mizzou is looking for its fifth straight win for the first time since Jan. 31-Feb. 13 of last season.
- Mizzou is attacking the glass this season. It has outrebounded its opponent eight times in 10 games to begin the season. The Tigers have done that 30 times in 43 games during the Martin era. Mizzou is limiting opponents to 31.9 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the SEC.
- Mizzou ranks second in the SEC in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 38.6 from beyond the arc. From 2012-17, Mizzou shot 32.4 percent from 3-point range. In the Martin era, Mizzou is shooting 38.4 percent from deep. Mizzou has made 61 triples over the last six games, shooting 44.5 percent from beyond the arc in that span. Sophomore Mark Smith is the top three-point shooter in the SEC (47.2).

- Sophomore Jeremiah Tilmon has been impressively efficient of late, shooting 61.0 percent from the field and scoring 69 total points over the last five games (13.8 PPG).
Tilmon Dominating
- Sophomore standout forward Jeremiah Tilmon has scored in double figures 19 times in his career. Mizzou is 17-2 in those games, including 6-1 this season. Tilmon scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive game with a career-high 23 points vs. Xavier, his longest streak since doing so in five games from Nov. 30-Dec. 19, 2017.
- Tilmon had the best outing of his career vs. Xavier, securing his third double-double in the last five games with a career-high 23 points and 10 rebounds (10-of-15 shooting). It was the most points scored by a Tiger when collecting a double-double since Ryan Rosburg posted 24 points and 11 boards vs. Vanderbilt on Feb. 10, 2016.
- Tilmon has been dominant at home this season, reaching double figures in all six games thus far. In those six contests, he's averaging 14.2 points per game and shooting 60.0 percent from the floor.
- Tilmon's field goal percentage of 55.7 percent leads the team and ranks third in the SEC. He's made 17 of his last 25 field goals.
- Tilmon is averaging 17.6 points per 40 minutes.
Trends
- Coach Martin reached 27 victories at Mizzou in just 43 games. That matches the previous Tiger coaching regime's win total (95 total games).
- Mizzou continues to be a stout defensive team under Coach Martin. The Tigers rank second in the SEC in scoring defense and 34th in the nation, limiting opponents to 63.4 points per game. When Mizzou holds teams under 65 points, it is 7-0. The Tigers held back-to-back opponents to their lowest scoring output of its season (UCF - 64 points, UT Arlington - 45 points).
- Mizzou is fourth in the SEC in both defensive rebound percentage (.741) and rebounding defense (31.9).
- Sophomore K.J. Santos has been cleared to play after sitting out the season's first eight games with a foot injury. He played 11 minutes vs. Oral Roberts on Dec. 7. Santos' last game action before that was March 22, 2017, as a freshman at Illinois-Chicago.
100 Starts
- Senior Kevin Puryear has appeared in 32 more career games than anyone else on Mizzou's roster, earning 99 career starts.
- Puryear is one start away from becoming the first Tiger to reach the century mark since Kim English in 2012. He would be the 15th Tiger to do so.
- Puryear could become the seventh Tiger in program history with at least 1,000 career points, 500 career rebounds & 100 career starts, joining Kelly Thames, Steve Stipanovich, Arthur Johnson, Derrick Chievous, Doug Smith & Jevon Crudup.
- Puryear ranks 35th on Mizzou's all-time scoring list with 1,105 career points and counting. He is eight points shy of surpassing legend Norm Stewart.
