Last-Second Layup Allows Florida to Steal 77-75 Win Over @MizzouHoops

Barnett goes off for career-high 28 points, adds nine boards

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Senior forward Jordan Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) canned six three-pointers en route to a game-high 28 points, setting career-bests in both columns, but Chris Chiozza's steal and layup in the final seconds helped Florida sneak away with a 77-75 result in Southeastern Conference play Saturday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.

TURNING POINT

With the game hanging in the balance, and Mizzou and Florida knotted up at 75, the Tigers had possession with just over 22 seconds left. After a Mizzou timeout, the Tigers ran a play to get graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson (Toronto, Ontario) the ball at the top of key, where he could take the potential game-winning shot. However, Florida's Chris Ciozza read the play perfectly, knocked the ball away, and put the ball in the basket uncontested with just .01 seconds remaining on the clock to secure the game for the visiting Gators.

TOP TIGERS

  • Freshman forward Jontay Porter (Columbia, Mo.) had a solid all-around game against the Gators, scoring seven points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing six assists, which was a team-high. Porter also had two blocks.
  • Robertson scored in double-digits for the fifth-straight game, posting 12 points in 37 minutes played.
  • Freshman forward Jeremiah Tilmon (East St. Louis, Ill.) scored eight points in just eight minutes played.

NOTES

  • With his 28 points against the Gators, senior forward Jordan Barnett now has three 20-point games this season, and six for his career. Barnett found double-digits in the scoring column for the 10th-straight game, the best scoring run of his career.
