2018-19Â (SENIOR, Mizzou):
- Medically retired, but played an active leadership role on the team throughout the season.
2017-18 (JUNIOR, Mizzou):
- Sustained a season-ending knee injury in Mizzou’s regular-season finale against Arkansas (March 3).
- Started 10 straight games before sustaining the injury, with the Tigers posting a 7-3 mark in those games.
- Appeared in 31 games on the year and drew 13 starts, averaging 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.
- Netted a conference season-high of 10 points at Mississippi State (Jab. 27), shooting a perfect four-for-four from the field and two-for-two from three-point range.
- Season-high of 11 points came in the win over Long Beach State (Nov. 23) at the AdvoCare Invitational. Also grabbed a career-high six rebounds against the 49ers and dished out a season-high three assists in 21 minutes off the bench
2016-17 (SOPHOMORE, Mizzou):
- Averaged 5.6 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while appearing in all 32 games with 17 starts.Â
- Ended his 2016-17 campaign with a career-best effort, scoring a career-high 16 points behind a career-best five three-pointers in the SEC Tournament victory over Auburn (March 8) in Nashville.
- Sank 44 three-pointers as a sophomore, a total that ranked third-best on the squad.
- Scored a career-high 14 points and matched a career-high for three-pointers made with four in a win over Miami (Ohio) on Dec. 6.
- Posted a career-high three steals and connected on two free throws in the final minute to seal the victory against Western Kentucky (Dec. 3).
- Recorded a then-career-high five rebounds vs. Northwestern State (Nov. 26).
- Knocked down three three-pointers in Mizzou’s season-opening win over Alabama A&M (Nov. 13), dishing out a career-high five assists as well.
2015-16 (FRESHMAN):
- Appeared in all 31 games for Mizzou in his first collegiate campaign, including three starts late in the Tigers’ SEC schedule.
- Averaged 4.0 points and 1.2 rebounds in 17.2 minutes per game in his first season wearing the Black & Gold.
- Hit on his two field goal attempts in his collegiate debut vs. Wofford (Nov. 13), including his first career three-pointer.
- Season-best 13 points at Xavier (Nov. 17), leading the Tigers in scoring for the first time.
- Season-high four three-pointers vs. North Carolina State (Dec. 19), scoring 12 points.
- First career block at No. 19 South Carolina (Jan. 16).
- Multiple assists for the fourth time vs. Mississippi State (Jan. 30).
- Season-high three assists in second start at Arkansas (Feb. 20), his fifth game of the season with multiple assists.
- 10 points vs. Ole Miss (Feb. 3), hitting multiple three-pointers for the fifth time on year.
- First career start vs. South Carolina (Feb. 16), scoring four points.
- Missed the majority of the game at Ole Miss (Feb. 23) due to a left shoulder injury suffered in the third minute of action.
- Seventh game of the season with two or more three-pointers vs. Texas A&M (Feb. 27).
PACIFIC HIGH SCHOOL:
- Averaged 23.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game for Pacific High School as a senior.
- Became the all-time leading scorer in Pacific history, breaking a record that stood since 1954.
- Reached 1,000 career points in just 58 games
- Named Missouri Class 4 Co-Player of the Year.
- Was a MBCA Class 4 All-State selection.
- Added academic all-conference honors as a senior.
- Also competed in golf in high school, receiving first team all-conference recognition.
PERSONAL:
- The son of John and Lori VanLeer was born on May 25, 1996, in Beaufort, Mo.
- Both parents attended Missouri State and work as educators, with mother, Lori, working as a superintendent and father, John, working as a physical education teacher and coach.
- Has been a fan of Mizzou Basketball since childhood.
- Showed cattle as a youngster.
- Has a younger brother named Cameron.
- Favorite sports movie is Glory Road.
- Would like to follow in his parents’ footsteps and become a teacher or coach, or work in the physical therapy field.
- Avid golfer who sank the first hole-in-one of his golf career on an off day of Mizzou’s first week of official 2016-17 practices.
