Robertson Scores 22 Points in @MizzouHoops’ 69-60 Win at Alabama

Robertson reaches 20+ points for third-straight game; Mizzou shoots a conference-best 53 percent from the field

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Mizzou Men's Basketball (14-8, 4-5 SEC) shot a conference season-best 53.2 percent (25-of-47) from the field to power the Tigers to a 69-60 win on the road at Alabama (14-8, 5-4 SEC) Wednesday night at Coleman Coliseum. Graduate senior guard Kassius Robertson (Toronto, Ontario) led the Tigers in scoring for the 11th time this season with his third-straight 20-point game, netting 22 points (6-of-10 FG, 4-of-8 3PT, 6-of-7 FT) in the victory.

The Tigers' win was the 200th career victory for head coach Cuonzo Martin. The third road win of the season for Mizzou was the first-ever win in Tuscaloosa for the Tigers.

TURNING POINT

Mizzou took the lead at the 16:51 mark of the first half on a three-pointer from Robertson, and never surrendered the lead again. Led by a pair of triples from senior forward Jordan Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.) and junior guard Cullen VanLeer (Pacific, Mo.), Mizzou utilized an 8-0 run to take a 12-point lead at 31-19 with 5:04 left to play in the opening frame, its largest lead of the game.

Mizzou shot 56 percent (14-of-25) from the field in the first half, and made five three-pointers to help open the double-digit lead. Freshman forward Jontay Porter (Columbia, Mo.) scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half, as the Tiger freshman shot 5-of-6 from the field.

TOP TIGERS

  • Robertson led the Tigers in scoring for the 11th time this season with 22 points, his third straight 20-point game and his eighth overall this season. Robertson played a large chunk of his minutes at the point guard spot, dishing out a team-high four assists.
  • Freshman forward Jeremiah Tilmon (East St. Louis, Mo.) had his most effective shooting night, as the Tiger big man was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field. Tilmon scored 12 points, the ninth time this season he has scored at least 10 points.
  • Junior guard Jordan Geist (Fort Wayne, Ind.) led the Tigers in rebounding and assists with nine and four, respectively. Geist's nine boards matched a career-high, as Mizzou outrebounded Alabama, 37-27, its 18th time in 22 games this season outrebounding its opponent.
