COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Mizzou Men's Basketball fell to Texas A&M (13-6, 2-5) on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 60-49 result after shooting just 27.9 percent from the field. The setback drops the Tigers back to .500 in Southeastern Conference play (3-3), and 13-6 overall.
Mizzou's typically potent offense stalled inside Reed Arena and never got rolling, as no Tiger cracked double-digits in the scoring column for the first time all season. Junior guard Jordan Geist (Fort Wayne, Ind.), senior forward Jordan Barnett (St. Louis, Mo.), and freshman forward Jeremiah Tilmon (East St. Louis, Ill.) all scored nine points each, while junior forward Kevin Puryear (Blue Springs, Mo.) chipped in with eight.
TURNING POINT
Mizzou was able to cut the Texas A&M lead back down to a single point with 11:04 to go in the game, trailing 39-38 following a pair of made free throws from Barnett. However, the Aggies heated up after that juncture, going on a 19-10 run to close the game. Mizzou's best weapon against the Aggies' loaded frontcourt, Tilmon, fouled out with just over 11:00 to go, giving Texas A&M's bigs control of the lane.
TOP TIGERS
- Despite playing just 24 minutes in the losing effort, freshman forward Jeremiah Tilmon had a good showing against arguably the best frontcourt in the SEC, scoring nine points and grabbing five rebounds.
- Junior guard Jordan Geist tied for the team lead in both scoring and assists, recording nine points and three assists
- Senior forward Jordan Barnett scored nine points while shooting 2-4 from behind the arc.
