#ShowMe Mizzou Game Notes
Talented Field Awaits in Salt Lake City
- Mizzou faces another tough non-conference tournament this weekend in Salt Lake City. The Tigers will square off against Green Bay, No. 15 San Diego and No. 18 Utah over two days of action.
- San Diego and Utah will mark the Tigers' second and third Top-25 opponents in their past five matches. The Phoenix from Green Bay are certainly no slouch as well, as they finished 21-9 overall last season with a 12-4 record in Horizon League play.
- San Diego's premier early-season victory came in Honolulu, as it toppled No. 20 Hawaii (Aug. 26). Utah is fresh off a perfect 3-0 weekend at Hawaii's Wahine Classic (Aug. 31-Sept. 3).
Mizzou Seeks Strong Finish in Non-Conference Play
- Mizzou is seeking consistency across the board this coming weekend, as it continues to compete heading into Southeastern Conference action beginning on Sept. 20. The Tigers enjoyed success in their non-conference schedule the past two years, accumulating a 9-3 record in 2016 and a sensational 12-1 mark in 2015.
- The strong preseason was a strong precursor to the SEC portion of the schedule, as Mizzou went 14-4 (T-2nd place finish) in 2015 and 16-2 (SEC Champions) a season ago.
Tigers Represented in Team and Individual Statistical Rankings
- While the Tigers currently sit below .500 in the standings, there's still plenty of positive team and individual accomplishments so far in the young season. Collectively, Mizzou ranks Top-5 in the SEC with 76.0 total blocks (first), 388 digs (third), 358 kills (third), 336 assists (third), 2.62 blocks per set (fourth) and 31 aces (fourth).
- Individually, junior Alyssa Munlyn put on a defensive show at the net last week in Boise, Idaho, posting 24 total blocks (three solo/2.18 blocks per set). Munlyn's premier match came against No. 10 BYU, as her 13.0 total blocks matched the Mizzou Volleyball single-match program record.
- Overall this season, Munlyn's 42 total blocks ranks first in the SEC and 10th in the NCAA. Additionally, her 1.45 blocks per set ranks second in the SEC and 35th in the NCAA.
- Redshirt senior Kira Larson and senior Courtney Eckenrode also sit favorably in conference and national statistical rankings, as Larson's 11 service aces ranks first in the SEC/56th in the NCAA and Eckenrode's 234 assists ranks fifth in the SEC/Top-75 in the NCAA.
