Tigers Coming Off Perfect 2-0 Week
- The Tigers claimed 3-1 victories in both matches last week (Nov. 17 at Mississippi State // Nov. 19 vs. Arkansas), improving their SEC record to 12-4 this year.
- Mizzou currently sits in third place in the SEC and is seeking its third consecutive Top-3 finish in the conference standings and fourth-such occurrence in the past five years (first in 2016, T-2nd in 2015, first in 2013).
Larson and Munlyn Fill Up The Stat Sheet
- Individually, Kira Larson and Alyssa Munlyn filled up the stat sheet in a big way over the Tigers' 2-0 week on the court. Larson posted back to back 20-plus point matches, beginning with a career-high 18 kills on .545 hitting at Mississippi State. Two days later, the Fargo, N.D., native added 16 kills on .462 hitting versus Arkansas. For the week, Larson produced a team-best 34 kills on .508 hitting and over five points per set.
- Munlyn wasn't too shabby herself, recording 22 kills on .487 hitting on offense and four solo blocks and 18 total blocks (2.25 per set) on defense. She concluded the weekend by matching her career high with 13 total blocks against the Razorbacks. For the second time this season, Munlyn established the new all-time Mizzou individual single-match total block record.
- The Suwanee, Ga., native was recognized by the SEC office on Monday (Nov. 20) for her outstanding two-match stretch, as she earned Week 13 SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. It also marked her 10th all-time weekly honor by the SEC, including her third accolade this season.
Offensive Balance Remains Critical to Tigers' Success
- Kayla Caffey also shined this past week with her blocking efforts, finishing with a team-leading six solo blocks and 15 total blocks (1.88 per set). The Chicago, Ill., native surpassed 100 total blocks for the season, joining Munlyn as Tigers with 100-plus total stops at the net this year.
- Offensive balance has been one of many keys to the Tigers' success this season. Larson (265), Munlyn (240) and Sydney Deeken (221) all possess 200-plus kills on the year. Dariana Hollingsworth is only one kill behind (199) from joining the club entering the final week of the 2017 regular season.
- Overall, the Tigers have an incredible seven players with 100-plus kills for the season (the above mentioned quartet of Tigers, plus Caffey, Leketor Member-Meneh and Melanie Crow), marking the most 100-plus kill players on any SEC team.
