OF NOTE

  • Mizzou is looking for its second consecutive win over Alabama for the first time since joining the SEC. The Tigers won their first home game in the all-time series last season.
  • Including last year's 63-52 Mizzou win over Alabama, just two of the seven matchups between the Tigers and Crimson Tide have been decided by 10 points or more.
  • In that win, Mizzou had five players reach double digits (Sophie Cunningham, Jordan Frericks, Cierra Porter, Sierra Michaelis and Kayla McDowell). That remains the last time five Tigers scored in double digits in the same game.
  • Mizzou's 63-45 SEC-opening win over Georgia last Sunday marked the fourth time the Tigers have beaten an SEC team by 18 points or more since joining the league as an official member. Mizzou earned its second victory in an SEC opener since 2012-13.
  • After scoring 20 points in a win over Georgia and pouring in 22 points at Kentucky, senior guard Sierra Michaelis has racked up at least 20 points 10 times in her career, including four times in 2016-17 (which matches a career high in a season). The performances against Kentucky and Georgia marked the first time she recorded back-to-back 20-point outbursts.
  • Michaelis ranks 5th among active SEC players in career threes and 10th among active SEC players in career points with 944.  Among active players, she is the only player in the SEC to rank in the top ten in career points, top ten in career assists and top five in career three-pointers.
  • Since returning from a back injury that sidelined her for two games, Sophie Cunningham has averaged 16.2 points per contest over the last five outings.
  • After averaging 14.0 points per game a season ago on her way to capturing SEC Freshman of the Year honors, Cunningham has pushed her average to 15.6 points per game in 2016-17. That ranks 12th in the SEC thus far.

HOME SWEET HOME

  • Mizzou is looking to improve to 10-0 at home on Sunday. The last time the Tigers opened a season with 10 consecutive home victories was during the 2012-13 campaign.
  • Mizzou has now put together a streak of eight more or more consecutive home wins within a season during the last five campaigns.
  • At home this season, the Tigers have won by an average margin of 13.9 points per game and have owned a +10.8 rebounding margin.
  • No opponent has scored 70 points or more at Mizzou Arena this season. The last time Mizzou allowed 70 points or more in a home game was Tennessee on Jan. 4, 2016.

EDGE ON THE GLASS

  • Despite having just one true forward playing 15 minutes or more per game, Mizzou has outrebounded opponents 13 times in 16 games this season, going 10-3 in those contests.
  • Mizzou ranks sixth in the SEC in rebounding margin (+7.1) and second in the league in defensive rebound percentage (72.1 percent).
  • Sophomore Cierra Porter has grabbed double-digit rebounds in five of the last seven games. She's one of two players in the SEC ranking in the top five in the league in rebounding and top 15 in scoring.

SCOUTING ALABAMA

  • Alabama is strong rebounding team as the Crimson Tide rank eighth in the nation in rebounds per game with 46.13 rebounds per contest. Alabama tops the SEC in that category and ranks third in the league in rebounding margin, outpacing opponents by 9.7 boards per game.
  • Alabama has won six of its last seven games. The Crimson Tide are coming off a 90-80 win over Ole Miss. Alabama is 13-2 overall, with both losses coming in true road games.
  • Alabama has four players averaging double figures, led by junior Meoshonti Knight, who chips in 13.9 points per game. Junior sharpshooter Hannah Cook is adding 12.3 points per game. Cook leads the SEC in three-point field goals made (2.7 per game). She's made 162 career three-pointers, one of five active players in the league with 150 or more (a list that includes Mizzou's Michaelis).

LAST TIME OUT

  • Mizzou fell to No. 24 Kentucky, 64-62, on Thursday night at Memorial Coliseum. The Wildcats used a second quarter run to push in front and held on for the victory despite a furious fourth quarter Mizzou comeback. The Tigers erased a 16-point deficit in the final seven minutes but fell just short in the final seconds.
  • Senior Sierra Michaelis led Mizzou with 22 points behind four three-pointers. She added seven rebounds. Michaelis has posted back-to-back 20-point performances to open SEC action and is averaging 21.0 points per contest through two conference games.
  • Sophomore Cierra Porter continued her strong play in the paint, notching seven points and 10 rebounds. She has now recorded at least 10 rebounds in five of the last seven games.
