COLUMBIA, Mo. – Following a championship at the Kennesaw State Invitational last weekend, Mizzou Volleyball returns to Mid-Missouri for its 2016 home opener. The Tigers will host the 21st annual Tiger Invitational from Sept. 2-3 at the Hearnes Center.
Mizzou will be joined by Illinois State, Miami (Ohio), Rice and Utah in the two-day event. A total of seven matches will take place this weekend at the Hearnes Center, highlighted by the Tigers' three opening home matches of the year.
The Tigers face Utah on Friday, Sept. 2, in their official home opener. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. (CT). Mizzou closes its run at the Tiger Invitational with a doubleheader on Saturday, Sept. 3. The Tigers meet Miami (Ohio) at 12:30 p.m. (CT), followed by a 6:30 p.m. (CT) contest against Rice.
All three of Mizzou's matches this weekend will broadcast live on SEC Network + via WatchESPN. Beau Baehman and former Tiger All-American Whitney Little will be on the call.
The Hearnes Center ticket office will be open beginning at 5 p.m. (CT) on Friday, Sept. 2, and beginning at 11 a.m. (CT) on Saturday, Sept. 3. Fans who purchase tickets prior to Mizzou's first match on Saturday will also receive complimentary admission to the night's final match.

Fan Promotions
- Free 2016 Mizzou Volleyball schedule magnets will be given away throughout the weekend (while supplies last).
- The popular Kids Karnival returns to the Hearnes Center Fieldhouse once again this season. Tiger fans are encouraged to arrive early prior to Friday and Saturday evening's matches for new fun-filled games, bounce house and face painting.
Tigers Claim Kennesaw State Invitational Championship
- Mizzou got off to an outstanding start this past weekend (Aug. 26-27), earning three victories and claiming the 2016 Kennesaw State Invitational title.
- Dating back to last season, the Tigers have won four consecutive non-conference tournaments.
Kan, Crow and Munlyn Named to All-Tournament Team
- Senior Carly Kan (Honolulu), redshirt junior Melanie Crow (Wildwood, Mo.) and sophomore Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) were each named to the Kennesaw State Invitational All-Tournament Team for their outstanding efforts.
- Kan earned Tournament MVP honors after tallying 36 kills, 21 digs and 40.5 points. Dating back to 2015, the high-flying outside hitter has earned four consecutive tournament MVP accolades.
- Crow was sensational in her first career matches at Mizzou. She recorded a team-high 39 kills, 10 aces and 52.5 points throughout the Tigers' opening weekend.
- Munlyn, the reigning SEC Freshman of the Year, quickly showed that her first-year campaign was no fluke as she tallied 25 kills on a team-high .420 hitting percentage. She also paced the Tigers with five solo blocks and 17 total blocks.
