COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou baseball (18-13, 2-7) jumped out to an early lead and never looked back on its way to a 9-6 victory over SIUE (4-21) on Tuesday (April 5). The team scored in each of the first four innings for the first time this season to build a 9-0 lead after four. Mizzou held on with solid defensive play to put away the Cougars.

Head Coach Tim Jamieson
Opening statement…
"I thought we took good swings early. I thought we were doing a good job drawing walks, working deep counts. But then from about the fourth inning on, we just stopped taking good swings after that."
On whether the team changed its mentality after opening a 9-0 lead…
"I think again, some people may think the game is over and lose focus a little bit. But to me, we have to keep scoring runs and that's what we did all weekend. We kept scoring runs even when we were up. We didn't do that today and that made it a lot more difficult than it had to be."
