
No. 20 @MizzouGym Scores a 195.750 at SECs to Place Eighth

Freshman Britney Ward tied for fourth on vault with a 9.900
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The No. 20 Mizzou gymnastics team scored a 195.750 to place eighth at the 2016 SEC Championships on Saturday (March 19) in Little Rock, Ark. The score marked the highest ever recorded by the Tigers at SECs, besting last year's tally of 195.700.
Freshman Britney Ward (Ozark, Mo.) tied for fourth on vault, and earn All-SEC honors, while Becca Schugel (Eagan, Minn.) claimed All-SEC accolades on beam to highlight Mizzou's day.
Missouri opened the meet with a solid 48.900 on the ever-tough beam. A career-high 9.875 from sophomore Becca Schugel (Eagan, Minn.) led the way for the Tigers, while freshman Morgan Porter (Overland, Mo.) tallied a 9.850, her fifth-straight meet with a 9.825 or higher. Ward added a 9.800 and sophomore Tia Allbritten (Garland, Texas) went 9.750.
Porter put up another 9.850 on floor as the Tigers scored a 48.750 in the second rotation. Sophomore Allison Bower (Mesa, Ariz.) had her fifth-consecutive score of 9.800 or higher with a 9.8, and junior Angie Kern (Columbia, Mo.) posted a 9.750.
Mizzou made up some ground on vault, with a 49.150 on the event, a tally that tied the third-highest output of the season. Ward went 9.900 to lead the team for her third score of 9.900 or higher on the apparatus during her freshman campaign. Porter notched a 9.850, freshman Xarria Lewis (Columbia, Mo.) tied her career-best with a 9.825, and sophomore Kennedi Harris (Atlanta, Ga.) went 9.800.
In the final rotation, the Tigers posted a 48.950 on bars. Schugel again paced the squad with a 9.825, while sophomore Shauna Miller (Knoxville, Tenn.) and freshman Brooke Kelly (Birmingham, Ala.) each scored 9.800s. Additionally, Porter notched a 9.775 for an all-around score of 49.325.
