MIZZOU OPENS THE SEASON WITH MAC DUAL AT OLD DOMINION
- Mizzou Wrestling opens the 2016-17 season with a road dual at Mid-American opponent Old Dominion, beginning at 1 p.m. (ET)/Noon (CT) in Norfolk, Va. An online stream will be available for a price at odusports.com/liveevents.
- Mizzou has never lost to Old Dominion, leading the all-time series, 10-0-1. Last season, the Tigers defeated the Monarchs on Senior Day, 29-6, on Jan. 29, 2016 at the Hearnes Center.
- Mizzou returns all four of its NCAA All-Americans from last year's squad who finished the NCAA Championships in sixth-place. Senior 197-pounder J'den Cox captured his second NCAA Title last season following a win over top-seeded Morgan McIntosh (Penn State) inside Madison Square Garden. Cox, one of two wrestlers in program history to win two NCAA Titles, seeks to become the program's first three-time National Champion this year. Also returning from the podium in New York is redshirt senior 149-pounder Lavion Mayes, who finished third, redshirt sophomore 165-pounder Daniel Lewis, who finished fourth, and redshirt junior 184-pounder Willie Miklus, who finished sixth.
- Mizzou won its fifth straight conference title last season by ending the season undefeated in MAC competition, 8-0, and winning the MAC Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. The Tigers dismantled the competition, scoring 127.5 points, 34 points ahead of runner-up Central Michigan.
- Cox returns to collegiate competition after a highly successful summer on the international circuit where he captured the 86 kg bronze medal in men's freestyle wrestling at the 2016 Summer Olympics Games.
- Two Tigers, redshirt freshman 174-pounder Dylan Wisman and redshirt freshman heavyweight Austin Myers are scheduled to make their Tiger dual debuts.

- Old Dominion competed in the Southeast Open in Roanoke, Va., on Sunday, Nov. 6, with six wrestlers registering top-six finishes, led by 197-pounder Kevin Beazley, who captured the open title. Sophomore 165-pounder Seldon Wright finished second at the open tournament.
