Zou Notes
• Mizzou enters the dual ranked No. 4 in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches poll and No. 5 in the Intermat Tournament Rankings.
• Mizzou currently holds a 35-dual win streak. The last time Mizzou lost a dual was Jan. 31, 2014, to Oklahoma State, 714 days ago.
• The Tigers are a perfect 4-0 in the all-time series between the two schools. In the last meeting, Mizzou beat Eastern Michigan, 31-7, on Feb. 8, 2015, in Ypsilanti, Mich.
• The 197 pound match will be the only ranked vs. ranked match. No. 2 junior J'den Cox (16-1, 6-1) squares up against No. 14 redshirt senior Anthony Abro (16-3, 8-2). Last season, Cox defeated Abro by way of decision, 5-1, on Feb. 8.
• Redshirt junior 149-pounder Lavion Mayes is a perfect 16-0 on the season, the Tigers' only wrestler with an unblemished record. Mayes is 7-0 in dual competition, scoring 23 points in the seven victories.
Manley Reaches 20 Wins
• Redshirt junior 141-pounder Matt Manley recorded his 20th victory of the season Jan. 10 with a 9-1 major decision over William Koll (Cornell), the first Tiger to reach 20 wins this season.
• Manley is 6-0 in dual competition this season, scoring three major decisions and three decisions wins, ranking fifth on the team with 21 dual points.
• The Perry, Okla. native has competed in three open tournaments this season, finishing second at the Maryville Brand Kaufman Open, third at the Joe Parisi Open, and fourth at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
Search of 100
• Junior 197-pounder J'den Cox earned his 90th career win on Jan. 8 with a 19-4 technical fall over James Benjamin (Buffalo).
• The Columbia, Mo. native now stands nine victories away from becoming the 24th member of the 100-Win Club in Mizzou history. For his career, Cox is 91-5 overall and captured the 197-pound NCAA national championship in 2014 as a freshman.
• This season, Cox is 16-1 and 6-1 in dual competition, recording 28 points via one fall, three technical falls, a major decision, and a decision. Cox earned individual championships at the Joe Parisi Open and Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational.
Dual Win Streak
• Mizzou has won 35 consecutive duals, dating back Jan. 31, 2014. The last dual lost for Mizzou came by the hands of Oklahoma State, 714 days ago.
Dual Domination
• Mizzou has outscored its opponents 198-87 in seven duals this season.
• Redshirt sophomore 184-pounder Willie Miklus leads the team with 34 points in duals, tallying three falls, two technical falls, and two decision wins. Miklus beat Joe Ariola (Buffalo) by way of technical fall, 19-4, on Jan. 8.
• Junior 197-pounder J'den Cox has recorded a fall, three technical falls, a major decision, and a decision for 28 points. Cox recorded a fall over Jerald Spohn (Kent State) on Dec. 20, his first fall in regular season dual competition since Jan. 25, 2015 against Alec Brown (Northern Illinois).
Mayes Undefeated
• Redshirt junior 149-pounder Lavion Mayes has yet to drop a match this season, posting a 16-0 this season, 7-0 in duals. Mayes, an NCAA All-American (seventh place) a season ago at 141 pounds, has not had any struggles after being bumped up to 149 pounds at the beginning of the year. Mayes has captured two open championships this year, winning the Joe Parisi Open and the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational. The final three wins at Cliff Keen came over opponents currently ranked in the top-20. The Illinois native has scored bonus points in eight of 15 matches this season, tallying six major decisions and two falls. In Mayes' four dual wins, he has outscored his opponents, 83-39.
