Tigers seek their fourth consecutive tournament title this weekend

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball concludes its early season tournament schedule this weekend as it heads to Indianapolis for the 2015 Butler Invitational. The Tigers will be joined by host Butler, Southern Illinois and Youngstown State for the 2-day invite.
Mizzou begins action Friday with a pair of contests. The Tigers face Southern Illinois at 1 p.m. CT and close the day against Butler at 5 p.m. CT. Mizzou wraps up its Butler Invitational schedule Saturday with a matchup vs. Youngstown State at 1 p.m. CT.

- Junior Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) was named the Southeastern Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday following her outstanding weekend at the Appalachian State Invitational. Kan tallied 72 kills on .299 hitting, including three consecutive 20-plus kill outputs.
- Kan earned her third consecutive tournament MVP honor at the Appalachian State Invitational. She now has six 20-plus kill matches and five double-doubles this season.
- Currently, Kan leads the SEC in points per set (5.27), total kills (168), and kills per set (4.67). Nationally, she ranks 12th, 13th and 14th in each of the respective categories.
- Redshirt sophomore Kira Larson (Fargo, N.D.) and freshman Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) also garnered All-Tournament Team recognition at the Appalachian State Invitational. Larson joins Kan as Tigers to be named to all three All-Tournament Teams so far, while Munlyn has been honored twice.
- At the Appalachian State Invitational, Larson had 35 kills on .444 hitting and eight total blocks, while Munlyn had 22 kills on .452 hitting and a team-leading 18 total blocks.
- After her efficient hitting weekend, Larson's season hitting percentage of .387 ranks seventh in the SEC.
- Munlyn has been a force at the net all season long, as her 45 total blocks are second in the SEC and her 1.25 blocks per set are third in the conference.
- Collectively, the Tigers have been led by an efficient hitting offense and powerful defense thus far. Mizzou's .322 hitting percentage is second in the SEC and third in the NCAA, while their 95.0 total blocks are second in the SEC and 27th in the nation.

The Tigers wrap up their nonconference schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Saint Louis. First serve at Chaifetz Pavilion is set for 7 p.m. CT. A week later on Wednesday, Sept. 30, Mizzou welcomes No. 5 Florida to the Hearnes Center for its SEC opener. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.
