Tigers rally in fifth set to seal victory after going up 2-0 early on
BOONE, N.C. – Mizzou Volleyball maintained its early season perfection on Friday following a thrilling 3-2 (25-23, 25-21, 19-25, 18-25, 20-18) win over Appalachian State.
Junior Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished with a career-high 26 kills against the Mountaineers. Eight of her 26 kills came in the match-clinching fifth set. It also marked Kan's fourth 20-plus kill match of the season.
Freshman Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) was another standout for the Tigers, finishing with a career-high 12 kills on .579 hitting. The freshman also contributed a team-best six total blocks.
After taking the first two sets on Friday, Mizzou dropped its next two and suddenly Appalachian State had forced a deciding fifth set. In the final set, the Tigers and Mountaineers had 10 ties and five lead changes.
Senior Regan Peltier (Nixa, Mo.) played a big role into the Tigers' fifth set triumph, recording four kills on .500 hitting. Overall, Peltier tallied her third career double-double on 13 kills and 12 digs.
Sophomore Ali Kreklow (Columbia, Mo.) helped lead Mizzou's offense against the Mountaineers, recording a career-high 34 assists. Junior Alexa Ethridge (Lee's Summit, Mo.) also added to her own career high list, finishing with 27 digs for the Tigers.

The Tigers close their weekend on Saturday, Sept. 12, at the 2015 Appalachian State Invitational. Mizzou opens play versus Charlotte at 9 a.m. (CT) and later face Liberty at 3 p.m. (CT).
