Tigers' defense fares well despite the loss, totaling 14.0 total blocks
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Mizzou Volleyball fought hard throughout its matchup at Texas A&M on Wednesday but fell 3-0 (25-27, 23-25, 23-25) to the Aggies. The Tigers defense fared well despite dropping the match, producing 14 total blocks.
Mizzou and Texas A&M competed close throughout the entire match inside Reed Arena, tallying 34 total ties and 12 lead changes.
The first set included 14 ties and three lead changes as the two teams needed extra points to declare a winner. Texas A&M's offense came alive late, leading to a 27-25 opening set triumph. Freshman Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) led Mizzou's attack despite dropping the set, finishing with five kills on .625 hitting. Senior Regan Peltier (Nixa, Mo.) began her night strong at the net, tallying four total blocks.
Set number two once again included close play throughout with 10 ties and six lead changes. The set was tied at 21 apiece before Texas A&M ultimately prevailed with a 25-23 victory. Redshirt sophomore Kira Larson (Fargo, N.D.) produced six kills on .444 hitting to lead the Tigers' second set attack.
The two teams concluded their match with 10 more ties and three lead changes in set number three. Once again the Aggies capitalized on crucial Mizzou errors late in the set to finish off a 25-23 set win.
Peltier's eight total blocks marked a new season-high, surpassing her previous high of four blocks set twice earlier this season. The eight total stops at the net also matched her career-high set in 2013.
Larson paced the Tigers' offense vs. the Aggies, finishing with 13 kills on .455 hitting. Munlyn continued her strong performances in SEC play with seven kills on .375 hitting.

Mizzou finishes this week's road trip on Sunday, Nov. 8, at LSU. First serve in Baton Rouge, La., is set for 4 p.m. (CT) and the match will broadcast live on SEC Network.
