Tigers improve to 14-1 overall and 2-0 in the SEC
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou Volleyball maintained its early perfection in SEC play with a 3-1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-17, 25-17) win over Tennessee at the Hearnes Center. Sunday's triumph improved the Tigers to 14-1 overall and 2-0 in SEC competition.
"I was real pleased with our effort today," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "It's always a challenge for a team to come back after an emotional win like we had Wednesday against Florida. From the first set on today against Tennessee, our ladies had tremendous focus and determination. We'll look to get even better this week in practice as we prepare for our first SEC road trip this weekend."
Today's win improved Mizzou's all-time record at home against Tennessee to 4-0. The Tigers have also won four consecutive matches in the all-time series.
Junior Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) and sophomore Ali Kreklow (Columbia, Mo.) each produced double-doubles against the Volunteers. Kan's ninth double-double of the season included a team-leading 16 kills and 10 digs. Kreklow recorded a team-leading 28 assists and 10 digs, finishing with her fourth double-double of the year.
Freshman Alyssa Munlyn (Suwanee, Ga.) had an outstanding attacking match, finishing with 11 kills on a season-high .714 hitting percentage. Redshirt sophomore Kira Larson (Fargo, N.D.) also had an efficient hitting afternoon, tallying eight kills on .400 hitting. Larson has hit over .400 in a match seven times this season.
Six Tigers recorded a service ace, leading to matching a season-best of nine aces overall. Mizzou once again out-blocked its opponent, recording 11 total blocks against the Volunteers. It marked the seventh double-digit block match this season for Mizzou.
