Tigers return to Columbia, Mo., next week for two SEC contests
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mizzou Volleyball fell 3-0 (12-25, 14-25, 17-25) to No. 15 Florida on Sunday afternoon inside the Stephen C. O'Connell Center. The Tigers dropped only their second match of the SEC season and fell to 18-3 overall.
"We struggled to find a rhythm all match long," head coach Wayne Kreklow said. "We made a lot of uncharacteristic errors today and you simply can't do that against a team like Florida. We'll work on fixing these mistakes in practice starting on Monday and bounce back in our two home matches next week."
In the opening set, Florida tallied 16 kills on .438 hitting en route to a 25-12 triumph. Mizzou struggled with its attack, producing only a .029 team hitting percentage. Junior Carly Kan (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished with a team-leading three kills.
The Tigers competed well to begin the second set as the score was locked at 11 apiece. Attack errors later haunted Mizzou with Florida ending the set on a 14-3 run. Despite dropping the set, redshirt sophomore Kira Larson (Fargo, N.D.) recorded three kills on .500 hitting for the Tigers.
Similar to the third set, Mizzou held its own in the beginning but Florida took control with another impressive scoring run. The Tigers held a 12-11 advantage before the Gators closed the set on a 14-5 run.
