Mizzou Splits Friday Double Dip In Kansas

WICHITA, Kan. - Mizzou tennis finished 1-1 Friday afternoon in Wichita, Kan. after splitting a pair of non-conference matchups. The Tigers dropped a 6-1 contest to No. 43 Wichita State in morning play, but bounced back nicely later in the afternoon with a 5-0 victory over Creighton.
Junior Kelli Hine recorded the lone win over the Shockers, as she defeated Julia Schiller in No. 1 singles (6-2, 7-6). The New Braunfels, Texas native also tallied a victory in Mizzou's afternoon matchup against Creighton, defeating Jennie Hartjes (6-2, 6-2). With the two wins, Hine improved to 4-2 in spring singles action, all of which coming at the No. 1 position.
The Tigers regrouped after their early morning matchup, and faced Creighton to end their road trip in Wichita, Kan. Mizzou made quick work of the Bluejays, as they swept all five matchups.
Senior Alex Clark, sophomore Beatriz Machado Santos and freshman Brianna Lashway all brought home singles wins for the Tigers, while sophomores Cassidy Spearman and Brittany Lashway earned the team's double point following their victory.
Spearman and Brittany Lashway improved their spring doubles record to a perfect 3-0 with their win today over Creighton.
Mizzou returns home next Saturday, Feb. 7 with yet another doubleheader. The Tigers square off against IUPUI at 10 a.m. (CT) next Saturday at the Mizzou Tennis Complex, and follow that up with a 5 p.m. (CT) matchup later that evening.
