All-Time Top Ten Marks Open Weekend for Track

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Tigers continued into day two of their busy meet weekend on Thursday (April 23), splitting between two of the premier meets of the season with the Drake and Penn Relays.  So far, the Tigers have earned five new personal records over the two days of the competition, including a new All-Time Top Ten performance from sophomore Kaitlyn Fischer.

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Tigers continued into day two of their busy meet weekend on Thursday (April 23), splitting between two of the premier meets of the season with the Drake and Penn Relays.  So far, the Tigers have earned five new personal records over the two days of the competition, including a new All-Time Top Ten performance from sophomore Kaitlyn Fischer.

Fischer, who owns the Mizzou Record in the 10,000m run (33:12.37) from the 2014 NCAA Outdoor Championships, now lands herself in the 5000m run record book after placing ninth during Thursday's evening's Drake Relays competition.  She timed through in 16:33.50, a 12-second improvement on her previous top time and the ninth-fastest time in school history.

Two other Tigers earned PR marks during Thursday's competition in Des Moines, Ia., including Liz Reida who started the day with a two-second improvement in the 800m run, finishing fifth in the field.  Her 2:08.74 crossing puts her within a second of the All-Time Top Ten list for the event.

In the women's 10,000m run, senior Courtney Brown barreled through her previous PR, clocking through in 35:54.06 for 13th overall.

Events will be in full swing on Friday, starting at 9 a.m. ET in Philadelphia, Penn., with the men's 400m hurdles, featuring freshman Jerrad Mason and senior Andy Schuckenbrock, both of whom will be looking to add their names to the Mizzou Records Books this weekend.

The women's triple jump will start the day's field event competitions, featuring No. 3 All-Time performer, freshman Shammai Ilis, and junior Danielle Williams.

Also taking to the runway at the Penn Relays will be a pair of long jump men, junior Tony Carodine and freshman John Warren.  This will be the first of two competitions for Carodine and Warren, who will return on Saturday for the triple jump, their main event.

In the 100m dash, junior Markesh Woodson and sophomore LaQuisha Jackson will look to continue moving their names up through Mizzou's record books.  Both hold indoor school records in the 60m and 200m dashes, and Woodson currently sits at No. 4 All-Time for the 100m, while Jackson holds the No. 5 position.

A number of relays will round out the Tigers' competition at Penn Relays on Friday, including the men's 4x100m, men's and women's 4x200m, men's shuttle hurdles, and the men's and women's sprint medleys.

Competitions in the field events will get the action started in Des Moines on Friday, starting with a pair of All-Time Top Ten men in the javelin at 10 a.m. Senior Macauley Garton, currently the No. 3 in the Mizzou history books with his PR from earlier this season (71.15m / 233-5) is returning for his second meet this week after he won the event at the Emporia State Mid-Week Open on Wednesday (71.10m / 233-3). Joining him on the runway will be freshman Alex Pascal, who currently holds the No. 7 mark in school history (63.35m / 207-10).

Seniors Camille Hayes and Morgan Whitson, who currently sits at No. 9 All-Time (1.78m / 5-10) will take on the women's high jump field to round out the day's field event in Des Moines. They will be followed by a pair of relay events, starting with the women's 4x400m up at 2:55 p.m. and ending with the men's 4x800m at 8:33 p.m.

TRITON INVITATIONAL
The fourth and final set of competitions this weekend will also kick off on Friday, with seniors Kearsten Peoples and Jill Rushin beginning the two-day Triton Invitational in San Diego, Calif. Peoples will be up first with the women's hammer at 10 a.m. PT, returning to the ring for the first time since her school record performance last weekend at the Gateway Invitational.

She will be joined by Rushin in the afternoon for the discus competition, an event in which they sit at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, in the Mizzou record books.
