
Inclement Weather Plagues Tigers at Cougar Classic

Hanahan, S.C. - Lighting delays and rain plagued the Tigers all through the Powerade Cougar Classic this week, even stopping third round play twice. Held at Yeamans Hall Club, the Tigers finished 22nd overall with a final score 53-over par on the Par 72, 6,204-yard course. Arkansas (-18), UCLA (-11) and Duke (-8) made up the top three finishers at the tournament.
Sophomore Jess Meek was the Tigers' top finisher as she tied for 38th in the tournament, Meek shot even par in the third round of play for her best performance of the tournament. She finished play with a total score just 5-over par.
Freshman Clara Young followed Meek, tying for 87th overall as she shot 77-78-76--231 through three rounds of play. Senior Alina Rogers was just two strokes back as she tied for 94th overall with fellow senior Laura Kraft. Redshirt junior Michelle Butler shot 23-over par through three rounds.
A total of 23 teams took place in the tournament including Arkansas, Baylor, UCF, Charleston Southern, Clemson, College of Charleston, Duke, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Mississippi State, North Carolina, NC State, UNCG, Penn State, Tennessee, UCLA, Virginia, Wake Forest and Wisconsin.
