Head Coach Robin Pingeton
On missed layups...
"We actually charted 21 as our coaching staff, and it is a concern. We talked in the locker room after the game and just talked about, this is a carry over from practice. We've had some really good practices and we've had some practices that weren't at the level they need to be in terms of attention to detail, focus and a discipline stand point and until we can get more consistent in our practices I think this is what we're up against. So I think it really resonated with our team when we talked about that, there was a lot of head nodding."
On getting better and growing....
"It's a great group to coach, they're hungry, they're driven, they're very unselfish and they have a pretty high basketball IQ. I think they knew exactly what I was talking about that as we continue this journey of the season we have to continue to get dialed in and locked in and not let one day go by where we don't have the effort to get better.
On the difference between the first and second half play...
"I thought we guarded harder, offensively I thought we got a little more physical inside and we really challenged our bigs to go after it in the second half. We were getting shots, couldn't hang our heads, couldn't feel sorry for ourselves. New half, new opportunity but really I'd say on the defensive end communication was better, maybe not on point with where it needs to be but better. The thing I really liked down the stretch was for how young we are we played with a lot of poise out their on the court, we bent a little bit but we didn't break.
On Bri Kulas' success on the court...
"Again, senior, mindset, toughness, not afraid to take tough shots, her versatility, can score from the inside and not ahead to put it on the floor and attack the rim. In games like this she has a scoring mentality and she really wants the ball in her hands. And you've got to have that out of your seniors, no doubt about it."
