Chelsea Thomas took the loss, falling to 24-5 on the season after giving up two runs in seven innings of work. She allowed four hits, walked one and struck out seven.
Texas got on the board with a solo shot by leadoff hitter Taylor Hoagland, who hit her 14th home run of the season with two outs in the top of the third. Brejae Washington followed with an infield single, but Megan Christopher threw her out trying to steal, ending the threat.
Missouri got their first hit in the bottom of the fourth, when Nicole Hudson doubled with two outs, but she was left stranded.
The game stayed at 1-0 until the top of the seventh inning, when Courtney Craig led off the inning with Texas' second solo home run of the year. The blast was Craig's seventh of the season, and put UT up 2-0.
Hudson led off the bottom of the seventh with a single for her and Mizzou's second hit of the day, but Luna got a fly out and two strikeouts to end the game.
Should Missouri win tomorrow and salvage a split, they can still earn a share of the Big 12 title if they beat Oklahoma State and Wednesday and sweep Iowa State next weekend, assuming Texas beats Baylor next Sunday. Tomorrow's contest between the Tigers and Horns begins at Noon CT and will air live on ESPN and ESPN3.com.
