EUGENE, Ore. - The bulk of Missouri athletes competing in the 2009 U.S. Track and Field Championships took part on the second to last day of the event, with the most notable performance coming from freshman Tiger Leslie Farmer who qualified for the finals of the women's 400-meter hurdles.
In the preliminaries of the junior women's division, Farmer finished in eighth place, clocking in at 1:00.73 for the last spot in tomorrow afternoon's finals.
Also completing for the Tigers on Saturday was Blake Irwin, who finished just two spots away from making the final run, finishing in 1:52.57 in the junior men's 800-meter run for tenth place.
In one of the only finals of the day, Big 12 hammer throw champion Chris Rohr finished in tenth place in the event with a toss of 221 feet, two inches, while former Tiger Jason Morris finished 16th with a toss of 214 feet, eight inches.
Krishna Lee, who competed in the shot put earlier in the championships, will return to action tomorrow in the women's hammer throw along with Farmer in the 400-meter hurdle finals and 2008 Beijing silver medalist Christian Cantwell in the shot put.
