Hey Mizzou Tiger Fans!
I can't believe that Black and Gold is already over and it is time for Christmas break already! This semester and preseason have definitely flown by! Our intrasquad was held last Saturday night and it was very successful. We were able to show off all of our hard work this preseason to our fans. At Black and Gold everyone is given a chance to compete on every event where they are able to do a routine. I personally enjoy this because it is fun to do the events that I don't normally compete on. On vault, we had eight girls compete with 10.0 vaults. Our vaults have definitely improved since last season, with more height and stronger landings. Next, on bars, we had 12 girls do routines. You can definitely tell that we have been working on details such as hitting handstands and sticking our dismounts. Beam and floor were very strong as well, and we have a lot of depth on those two events. Our confidence has improved significantly on beam and floor since last season. We have been putting ourselves in pressure situations so that we can get used to being nervous, and still be able to attack our routines and be aggressive. Our floor routines have great choreography this year, and I think they really let us show off our personalities to the judges and entertain the fans. Even though Black and Gold was a success,we still have a lot more work to do before our first meet on January 9 at Iowa State. We will be continuing to work hard over Christmas break, while enjoying a few weeks with no classes! We hope to see you at our first home meet, Pink Out, vs. Nebraska on January 23!
Merry Christmas and Go Tigers!
~Becky
