Oklahoma State used a 20-0 first-half run to pull away from Missouri as the Cowgirls claimed an 83-57 win in Big 12 Conference play at Mizzou Arena on Saturday.
Missouri (14-10, 2-9 Big 12) never was able to cut away at the deficit like it had in other games this season, despite shooting 56 percent in the second half. Tiffany Brooks led the Tigers with 12 points and EeTisha Riddle finished with 11.
Oklahoma State (17-7, 5-6) scored 46 points in the paint and shot 58 percent in the game. Danielle Green had 15 of her game-high 19 points after halftime and Andrea Riley added 18, including seven during the Cowgirls' first-half run.
Mizzou took a 17-16 lead eight minutes into the game on consecutive layups from Brooks and Riddle. Then the Tigers shooting went cold as they missed their next eight attempts. As a result, OSU outscored MU 20-0 over a 6:25 span and led 36-17 with just over five minutes to play in the half.
Jessra Johnson converted a layup and Brooks made a pair of free throws but the Tigers were held without a bucket the final four minutes as the Cowgirls closed the period on a 9-0 run to take a 45-21 lead in the locker room.
OSU shot 58 percent and converted 17 points off 12 Mizzou turnovers in the first half. The Cowgirls also made six of their seven 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes.
OSU's lead reached 26 following a fastbreak layup from Riley in the opening minute of the second half that made it 47-21. Mizzou then made eight of its first 11 shots and cut the deficit to 14 with 12:08 on the clock, but another Cowgirl run put the margin back to 24 with 8:38 remaining.
Missouri senior Carlynn Savant made two 3-pointers to bring her career total to 137, just three shy of the school career record.
Missouri will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 14, when it travels to arch-rival Kansas (8-16, 2-9) for a 7 p.m. contest. The Jayhawks had lost their first nine league games before defeating Colorado in overtime on Tuesday and winning at Texas earlier on Saturday.
