COLUMBIA, Mo.--Tiger junior Tyler Dailey was named by the to the Big 12 Conference's Spring "Good Works" Team a few weeks ago for his dedication to giving back to the community, his scholarship, and his overall athletic prowess. Dailey, an All-American weight thrower, has many community service projects to his credit including working with local groups such as Habitat for Humanity and the Central Missouri Food Bank.
Dailey also has worked as a volunteer at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital in the past two years, escorting patients and giving hope to those in distress. Dailey has also lent a hand to many local sporting events including the Show-Me State Games and Special Olympics and has helped coordinate the MS-150 Bike Ride the last three years.
Dailey earned All-American honors in March this year for his ninth-place finish in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark. For the third-consecutive year, Dailey, who is also a four-time All-Big 12 performer, has qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships in the hammer throw. The regional will be held in Columbia in late May.
Dailey is a Biology major and is originally from Joplin, Mo. Dailey joins former volleyballer Jessica Vander Kooi and former wrestler Ben Askren as winners of the award from the University of Missouri this school year.
Team Awards Announced
Although a fair majority of the outdoor season remains for the Missouri track and field squads, the end of the academic year marks the time when team awards are announced and team captains are named for the 2007-08 squads.

Natasha Kaiser-Brown Award (Most Outstanding Female Athletes): Hedvig Glomsroed, Trisa Nickoley, Shernelle Nicholls, Elisha Hunt.
Tom Botts Award (Seniors with Integrity, Citzenship, and Leadership): Rem Moll, Bill Hobson, Tipper O'Brien, Bobby Musil, Jimmie Jones, Jamie Wynn, Marcus Mayes, Hans Uldal, Bjorn Sommerfeldt, Tim Ross, Kristin Hansen, Greg Bracey.
