Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's tennis team (6-10, 1-7 Big 12) is set to host the Kansas Jayhawks (4-11, 2-4 Big 12) Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Green Tennis Center in Columbia. The match is worth three points in the Border Showdown presented by Midwest Ford Dealers. The University of Missouri currently leads KU, 13-12, in the season-long contest between the two schools.

Texas Trip
The Tigers went down to Texas last weekend and faced two tough teams, then-No. 69 Texas Tech and then-No. 16 Baylor. Mizzou fell in both matches, losing 6-1 against the Lady Raiders and 7-0 to Baylor. The only match the Tigers won was the No. 6 match against Texas Tech, where Raquel Wagner defeated Brenna Jackson, 6-2, 6-2, to earn her seventh victory of the spring.
Big 12 Wins
With her win last Saturday, Raquel Wagner leads the team in Big 12 wins, with three. Wagner has won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles. The Tiger sophomore is 16-13 overall, and 7-8 in the spring. She is tied with Katelyn McKenzie for second on the team in wins this season, junior Chrissy Svetlic leads the team with 17.
Improvements
Two Tigers have greatly improved their win totals from last season. Chrissy Svetlic is 17-14 this year, already earning five more wins than last year's final 12-13 mark. Junior Charlotte Bellis is 11-7, seven wins better than her 4-7 record last season.
Home Sweet Home
The Tigers are 4-4 at home this season, with wins over Murray State, Drake, Montana, and then-No. 63 Kansas State. The Tigers are 43-19 at the Green Tennis Center since its opening in 2002.
Border Showdown
The University of Missouri currently holds a 13-12 lead in the Border Showdown Presented by Midwest Ford Dealers, after the MU baseball team won two of three games against the Jayhawks last weekend. Saturday's match is worth three points in the series. After Saturday's match, there are still 12.5 points remaining in the series, including half a point for the team that finishes higher in the Big 12 Championships, April 26-29 in Kansas City.
Kansas
The Jayhawks went on the same road trip the Tigers went on, and they too lost to then-No. 16 Baylor and then-No. 69 Texas Tech. Kansas fell to Baylor, 7-0, and Tech, 5-2. The two losses drop the Jayhawks to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the Big 12.
Junior Elizaveta Avdeeva has played most of the season at No. 1 singles for the Jayhawks. She is 4-10 on the spring at No. 1, including a 2-4 Big 12 mark. Freshman Kunigunda Dorn will likely play at No. 2 for KU; she is 5-7 in that spot this spring.
Series
Kansas leads the all-time series, 30-7, but the Tigers have won three of the last four meetings, including the last two in Columbia in 2005 and 2003. In their meeting last season in Lawrence, the Jayhawks stopped a three-match Tiger winning streak in the series by defeating Mizzou, 6-1.
Looking Ahead
The Tigers will stay at home next weekend as they continue their Big 12 schedule by hosting Iowa Sate, Saturday April 14 at 1 p.m. at the Green Tennis Center. Mizzou closes out the regular season against Wichita State (April 19) and Texas (April 21) before the Big 12 Championships, which start April 26th.
