Anderson Welcomes Tiger Legend Anthony Peeler Back To Mizzou Arena

Columbia, Mo. - Mizzou hardwood legend Anthony Peeler will make a special appearance at Mike Anderson's Missouri Basketball Team Camp on Friday (June 16) when he is scheduled to speak to nearly 61 high school programs from across the state and region at approximately 9:15 a.m. tomorrow at Mizzou Arena.

A member of the University of Missouri's All-Century Team, Peeler lettered four seasons for Norm Stewart's Tigers and holds MU career records for assists (497) and steals (196) and ranks No. 3 in career points with 1,970. The Big Eight Conference Player of the Year in 1992, Peeler closed out his Tiger tenure by averaging 23.4 points per game and was made the first round draft pick (No. 15 overall) of the National Basketball Association's Los Angeles Lakers in 1992. Peeler went on to compete 14 seasons professionally before retiring in 2005, but boasted career averages of 9.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers (1992-96), Vancouver (1996-97), Minnesota (1997-2003), Sacramento (2003-04) and Washington (2004-05).

A consensus All-American during that 1992 campaign, the Kansas City, Mo., native was named the Big Eight Conference's Male Athlete of the Year for 1992 and earned First Team All-Big Eight recognition in both 1990 and 1992. A Missouri Athletics Hall of Fame inductee in 1998, Peeler opened his Tiger career by winning Big Eight Newcomer of the Year honors in 1989 after averaging 10.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists, while helping to lead the Tigers to a 29-8 mark, a Big Eight Conference Tournament title and a berth into the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16.
