COLUMBIA, Mo.--The Tiger track and field squads hosted the 22nd annual Missouri All-Comers meet on Saturday in the Hearnes Center. Over 530 athletes from around the Midwest came to Columbia to participate. During the weekend, which also included the CMSU Open for the Tigers, many Mizzou throwers garnered impressive performances to carry momentum into the Big 12 Indoor Championships next weekend.
On Saturday at the Missouri All-Comers, sophomore Elisha Hunt broke her own school record in the women's weight throw with a 63-7¾ (19.40m) winning toss, improving her NCAA-provisional qualifying mark. Hunt, pulled off the double, also won the women's shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 1 inch (14.35m).
In the men's weight throw, Chris Rohr had an another solid performance with a 64-8¾ (19.73m) mark in winning the event. Sophomore Jason Morris became the fifth Tiger this season to earn an NCAA-provisional mark in the event, hitting 62-4 (19.00m). Without a doubt, Missouri will be the only team in the country to have five individuals earn NCAA provisional marks in that event.
Tiger senior Chris Horn won the men's high jump with a 6-9½ (2.07m) leap to mark a new season best.
CMSU Open Recap
On Friday, a small group of Tiger throwers made the western trek to Central Missouri State in Warrensburg for their open meet. Aside from sweeping the top three spots in both the men's shot put and men's weight throw, a good handful of Tigers made impactful personal breakthroughs.
In the men's shot, senior Bill Hobson, consistently a 57-foot putter, won his event by gaining a two-foot personal best while eclipsing the ever-important 60-foot barrier for the first time of his career. His NCAA-provisional throw of 60-7¼ (18.47m) places him in the national top-15 of the season's performances entering the weekend. The event victory also gave Hobson his fifth top three finish of the season through six events.
Placing second in the men's shot was sophomore Nate Englin, who captured a two-inch PR, throwing 59-8¼ (18.19m), improving upon his NCAA-provisional mark. In third was sophomore Tyler Dailey at 53-8½ (16.37m).
Sophomore Bobby Musil won the 35-lb. weight throw event by improving his NCAA-provisional and personal best mark by over a foot, hitting 65-2¾ (19.88m). Dailey placed third in his second event with a 61-1¼ marking.
