
#18 Missouri Wins Mizzou Invitational

Columbia, Mo.- Bringing the 2004 home season to a close, the #18 ranked Missouri Tigers scored a 197.125 to take top honors at the Mizzou Invitational. The Tigers defeated Centenary (191.400), Northern Illinois (192.875) and Illinois State (191.750). The victory adds three wins to the Mizzou record bringing the Tigers to 12-3 overall with a 1-2 mark in the Big 12 Conference.
Kicking the Tigers off in the right direction, freshmen Whitney Crater and Amanda Pezzullo both tied their career-high vault scores posting back-to-back 9.900 marks. Alisha Robinson topped the event scoring a 9.925-her seventh consecutive 9.9+ vault this season. The trio led the Tigers to its fourth-highest vault total tallying a 49.225 cumulative.
Missouri opened its uneven bar rotation scoring three consecutive 9.775s from Lindsay Davis, Sarah Zigler and Katie Roets. Freshman Kelley Andersen upped the anti posting a 9.825 leading into a team high 9.850 from Robinson. Overall, the Tigers rallied a 49.000 bar total.
Scoring a 49.325 to tie its highest all-time beam total, Mizzou's freshman class kept the Tigers going strong on the balance beam. Pezzullo opened the round scoring a 9.800 tying her second career mark of the meet, Andersen scored a 9.825 and Miranda Boeckman scored a 9.875.
The senior class stepped in to add some veteran strength to the lineup. Davis scored a 9.825 and Rachel Bridges tied her career-high scoring 9.875. Once again rounding out the Mizzou lineup with the team's highest score, Robinson picked up her third event title scoring a 9.925.
Topping the meet off on the floor exercise, Mizzou scored a 49.575 to tie its program on the event. Davis and Pezzullo started the Tigers off scoring back-to-back 9.850 routines leading into a 9.900 career-high performance from Andersen-her second this season.
Bringing their final home meet to a close, Bridges and Nervig each gave Tiger fans performances to remember. Bridges scored a career-high 9.925 routine while Nervig topped her career mark with a 9.950 showing.
Picking up five first-place finishes, Robinson tied to win the floor exercise recording a 9.950 bringing her meet winning all-around total to 39.650. The score ties Robinson's career and Missouri program record.
The Tigers end the 2004 regular season next weekend when the compete in the Texas Woman's Invitational in Denton, Texas.
