Originally scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., the Missouri softball game against Texas A&M in College Station has been delayed until 4 p.m. (CT) due to inclement weather.
Improving to .500 on the season (21-21) the Missouri softball team will travel to College Station for a two-game series against Texas A&M beginning Saturday, April 24, at 2 p.m., followed with game two on Sunday, April 25, at noon. Playing in the Aggie Softball Complex, the game is the Tigers' sixth Conference pairing of the season.
Taking two from Baylor on April 17th and 18th, Missouri improved to 8-2 in the Big 12 Conference and is currently third in the league behind Nebraska (10-0) and weekend opponent Texas A&M (11-1). Baylor stands in fourth behind Missouri with an 8-5 record.
Not ranked, bur receiving votes in the two national polls, the Aggies of Texas A&M hold a 25-13 lead in the all-time series. In their last meeting of the 2003 season, the Tigers split with the Aggies on March 29 (L, 4-2) and March 30 (W, 6-5 in 10) at home.
With only eight games remaining in the regular season, Missouri will travel to three of the next four Conference opponents' home field, Hoping to add onto their three-game winning streak with weekend victories in College Station, the Tigers' last loss of the season came to Oklahoma (1-0) in game two of a doubleheader played in Norman, Okla., on April 10. Missouri will end the home portion of their schedule with a two-game series against Texas Tech on Saturday, May 1 and Sunday, May 2. Senior Morgan LeCluyse will be recognized for her four years of dedication to the team prior to the noon pitch on May 2.
Junior pitcher Erin Kalka (Chandler, Okla.) is expected to return to the mound for Missouri Saturday afternoon. Already at 225 strikeouts on the season, Kalka is well ahead of her 2004 total (202) and has moved to sixth on the Missouri season Strikeout Chart. Kalka is only 17 strikeouts shy of overtaking the No. 45 spot currently held by 1983 graduate Teresa Wilson (241, 1983).
LOOKING AHEAD: Next up for Tigers is a road trip to Ames, Iowa for a doubleheader against Iowa State on Wednesday, April 28. Game one will begin at 2 p.m. with game two following at 4:30 p.m.
