Jasmine James completed three seasons as an assistant coach at Missouri from 2022-25.
In the 2024-25 season, James continued in the development of Ashton Judd, who eclipsed the 1,000 point mark during the season and led the team in scoring six times throughout the season.
During the 2023-24 season, James was instrumental in the development of 2022-23 SEC All-Freshman Team honoree Ashton Judd. With her guidance, Judd improved her offensive production from 7.4 to 13.4 points per game.
James was hands with Tiger freshman Grace Slaughter and Abbey Schreacke. Slaughter earned All-SEC Freshman Team honors and ranked fourth in the among first-year players in scoring at 11.6 points per game while Schreacke led the conference’s freshman class in 3-point percentage at 38.4%.
With James assistance, Mama Dembele earned All-SEC Defensive Team recognition as the Tigers’ point guard ranked top 10 nationally in both steals and assists.
The year marked the conclusion the decorated career of Hayley Frank who became the fourth Tiger in program history to record 2,000 career points and ranked seventh in the conference in scoring.
In her first season in Columbia, James helped develop Frank, who secured back-to-back All-SEC Second Team selections, improving her scoring average to 15.4 points per game. James also guided Ashton Judd in her first season as a Tiger as she secured All-SEC Freshman Team honors. The West Plains, Mo. native knocked down 44.9% of her 3-point attempts, ranking third in the conference, while contributing 7.4 points per game off the bench.
James arrived at Mizzou following two seasons at Tennessee Tech. She has experience coaching at the high school and collegiate level and was a standout player in the Southeastern Conference who went on to be a 2013 WNBA Draft pick and had a four-year professional career.
James' Golden Eagles played for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship in 2022 along with advancing to the second round of the Women's NIT.
Prior to Tennessee Tech, she spent the 2019-20 season as the director of basketball operations at SIUE.
James has been mentored by some of best coaches in women's basketball, including Andy Landers (Georgia), Kim Rosamond (Tennessee Tech), Sandy Brondello (Phoenix Mercury), Jenny Boucek (Seattle Storm/Dallas Mavericks) and Ann Meyers Drysdale (Phoenix Mercury/Phoenix Suns).
Before her year at SIUE, James was the head coach at Bartlett (Tennessee) High School, her prep alma mater. She led the program to its most wins in the previous five seasons as well as a runner-up finish in the District 15-AA tournament. Her coaching career got started as an assistant at Bartlett and on the summer circuit with the Arkansas Banshees organization.
A third-round draft pick to the Seattle Storm in 2013, James later played for the Phoenix Mercury. She went on to a four-year professional career, playing overseas in Brazil, Luxembourg, Germany and Israel.
As a collegiate player, James was a freshman All-American during the 2009-10 season at Georgia. She went on to earn second team All-SEC honors during the 2012-13 season. Along the way, she was a consistent Academic All-SEC performer.
Following her playing career, James spent time coaching with the Arkansas Banshees' organization on the summer circuit served as an assistant coach at Bartlett High School for one season. In 2018-19, she was promoted to head coach at her alma mater and proceeded to lead the program to its most wins in the previous five seasons as well as a runner-up finish in the District 15-AA tournament.
James earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia in 2013, majoring in recreation management and leisure studies.
