Heather Buechter

Heather Buechter is in her 12th year with the Mizzou Women’s Basketball program and her eighth as the Director of Basketball Operations. Previously, Buechter served as Coordinator of Basketball Operations for three years under Robin Pingeton. Overall, Buechter is in her 18th season on Pingeton’s staff.

As Director of Basketball Operations, Buechter is responsible for organizing and coordinating all team travel arrangements, assisting with the marketing programs and social media plans, developing and organizing alumnae and booster events for the Tiger IMPACT and Tiger Paws programs as well as assisting with daily operations.

Buechter is responsible for managing the program’s equipment needs, works as a liaison with visiting teams to help organize travel and practices, oversees the team’s student managers and coordinates community service initiatives. Buechter’s efforts helped the Tigers earn the Team Community Service Award in 2010-11 in which the Tigers logged over 260 hours of community service and outreach. Mizzou has continued to stay active in the community thanks to Buechter’s guidance. The Tigers have logged over 2,700 hours of community service during Buechter’s tenure at Mizzou, including 350 hours in the 2013-14 season and 325 hours in 2014-15 and 2015-16.

Before coming to Columbia, Buechter spent four years as a student manager at Illinois State and two years as a graduate assistant under Pingeton. In these roles, Buechter was responsible for daily operations, community service efforts, film exchange and video editing. Her vast experience and tenure under Pingeton makes her a vital part of the Mizzou program.

A native of Catlin, Ill., Buechter earned her bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2008 and a master’s in Sports Management in 2010. She and her husband, Craig, were married in June 2015, and have two daughters, Abigail and Madison.
