| Scott came to Mizzou from Gainesville, Missouri in the late 1950s where he was known as the Gainesville Gunner after averaging 30.8 points per game as a senior the highest scoring average in Missouri prep history at the time. At MU he lettered from 1959-61 and scored 1,128 career points which was in the schools top-five when he graduated. In March 1961, he set the school single-game scoring record with 46 points against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a record that still stands today some 60 years later. He also served as team captain. He went on to be a successful lawyer in Poplar Bluff, Missouri where he was extremely active in community events, and especially being a strong advocate and supporter of youth sports. In 2016, the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame honored Scott with the Presidents Award which is given to an individual who promotes sports in the state and greatly assists the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. |
