Outdoor: Vaulted three times during the outdoor season ... best of the year (4.45m, 14-7¼) came indoors at the Tom Botts Invitational, an event that had to be moved indoors due to the inclement weather. Indoor: Reached personal best height of 15-7 (4.75m) in placing second at the Missouri Invitational ... winner of the MU All-Comers vault.
2007:
Outdoor: Twice went above season-best mark of 14-1¼ (4.30m) in the vault. Indoor: Cleared all-time best in the pole vault of 14-11 (4.55m) at the Meyo Invite.
High School:
A two-time All-District performer and two-time state championship qualifier ... cleared 14-0 in high school for the school record.
Personal:
Son of Dan & Margaret Shimkus ... majoring in mechanical and aerospace enginerring ... transferred from the University of Missouri-Rolla (MUST) after freshman year where he won all-conference honors twice in Great Lake Valley meets and was a UMR Scholar Athlete ... both parents ran for Mizzou in the late 70s and early 80s, mother, Margaret was the Tiger-record holder at 1500 and 3000 meters and as part of a distance medley relay in 1981 ... has future ambitions to work for NASA ... born August 5, 1986 in Effingham, Ill.
