2009: Katy Koontz redshirted the 2009 campaign
2008: As a freshman, Koontz made 10 plate appearances and scored two runs for the Tigers. In her first collegiate at bat, Koontz went 1-for-1 against Saint Louis, Feb. 27, with a two-out single to center field. Koontz scored a single run March 16, at the Tiger Invitational. Reaching base on balls in the bottom of the fourth, Koontz advanced home on teammate Amanda Renth's home run to left field
Marquette: A 2007 graduate of Marquette High School, Koontz was a member of the Mustang softball team coached by Chris Meador and Amy Doyle. Koontz played third base for the Mustangs and helped her team to two third place finishes at the Missouri State Championships (2004, 2007) and a fourth place finish her sophomore season (2005). Receiving numerous accolades for her work on the field, Koontz was recognized as a four-time Suburban All-Conference honoree earning first team honors her junior (2006) and senior (2007) campaigns. Tabbed an all-metro honoree as a junior and senior, Koontz also was named to the all-state team her final year of competition. In addition, Koontz set the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHAA) single season home run record at 11 and was awarded the Athletic Award of Excellence for exemplary display of sportsmanship, ethics and integrity from the MSHAA (2006). Koontz received five letters and was named the Most Valuable Player of her team in both her junior and senior seasons. A four-year member of the honor roll, Koontz also was a member of the girl's basketball team and played club softball with the St. Louis Lasers.
Personal:Born Aug. 6, 1988, Katy Koontz is the daughter of Steve and Marilynn Koontz and has four siblings, Neal (33), Meredith (30), Ryan (28) and Bobby (23). Koontz is majoring in nutrition and fitness.
