
Viskari Opens NCAA Action on Monday

Junior Veikka Viskari is set to make his NCAA Championship debut this week, competing in the Arizona regional, starting on Monday.
TOURNAMENT INFO
The six regionals of the NCAA Championship begin on Monday morning with teams beginning to tee off a 9 a.m. CT. – Viskari is scheduled to tee off at 11:01 a.m. CT. during the first round. The tournament is set for 54 holes – competing in 18 holes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Viskari is competing in a field of 75 golfers, including 14 teams of five and five individuals. The top five teams qualify for the final rounds of the NCAA Championship in addition to the top individual from outside the top five schools.
COURSE OVERVIEW
The Galley Golf Club in Marana, Arizona, is hosting the regional. The par-72 course measures 7,317 yards in distance.
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
Viskari is joined by 14 teams in the regional – No. 5 Oklahoma State, No. 8 LSU, No. 18 Arizona, No. 20 Alabama, No. 29 Duke, No. 33 Clemson, No. 41 San Diego State, No. 44 Arkansas State, West Virginia, Florida Gulf Coast, Saint Mary's, Tarleton State, North Dakota State and Iona – in addition to four individuals in Rudy Sautron (Nebraska), Dylan Teeter (UTEP), Javier Delgadillo (New Mexico State) and Trevor Algya (Loyola Marymount).
TIGERS AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP REGIONALS
The Tigers are represented at the regional rounds of the NCAA Championship for the 26th time in their history and the first time since the team qualified in 2024.
Viskari is the seventh Tiger to qualify as an individual for the regional rounds (began in 1989) and the first since Ross Steelman in 2021 when he place third overall in Noblesville, Indiana.
The last time Mizzou advanced to the NCAA Championship Finals as either a team or an individual was in 2014 when Mizzou earned a bid after finishing third at the Columbia regional. The last individual to qualify for the finals was Jace Long in 2011 after a first-place finish in Florida.
VISKARI SEASON IN REVIEW
During his junior campaign, Viskari led Mizzou with a team-best 71.82 stroke average in 2025-26 – an improvement of 1.76 strokes from his sophomore season. He led the Tigers in six of the team's 11 tournaments this season with his individual crown at the 2026 Tiger Intercollegiate – his first collegiate title – in April highlighting his season.
