CLEVELAND, Ohio - No. 14 Mizzou wrestling advances two wrestlers to the medal round on day two of the 2026 NCAA Wrestling Championships at Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, on Friday, March 20. Heading into the final day, the Tigers sit in 14th place with 26.5 points.
Missouri wrestlers had a record of 4-4 on the day, highlighted by a quarterfinal win for 174-pounder Cam Steed and a blood round win by redshirt freshman Aeoden Sinclair, both of which earned the respective wrestlers a spot on the All-American podium.
SESSION III
In the 174-pound quarterfinal, redshirt junior Steed faced off against Navy's Danny Wask in a battle of returning All-Americans. The Collinsville, Oklahoma native spent the first seven minutes on the offensive, but was unable to convert until the sudden victory period when he took Wask to his back with a body lock for a takedown. The win advanced him to the semifinals and earned him a spot on the podium. Mizzou's second semifinalist, Sinclair, took the mat against Iowa's Angelo Ferrari for the second time this season. Despite aggressive offense, Sinclair was unable to secure a takedown as Ferrari won the bout in sudden victory to knock the Tiger to the consolations.
At 133 pounds, sophomore Gage Walker opened up day two for Mizzou in the consolation bracket, dropping a close decision to a returning All-American to bring his tournament to an end. Redshirt senior Evan Bates also saw action in the consolations on Friday morning, going 1-1. He picked up a convincing win in his first bout of the day, but ended his season with a loss one round shy of the All-America round.
At the conclusion of Session III, the halfway point of the tournament, Missouri sat in a tie with two other teams for 15th place, totaling 19.5 points.
SESSION IV
As Missouri's only semifinalist, Steed made his way to the center mats at 174 pounds to face off with Nebraska's Christopher Minto. The representative of the Black and Gold fought hard but was unable to overcome the Cornhusker's first-period takedown in a losing effort. Steed is set to compete in tomorrow morning's consolation semifinals.
Following his close defeat in the quarterfinals, Sinclair competed in the blood round, earning his first All-American honors with a win. Facing off with the No. 4 seed James Conway of Franklin & Marshall, the Tiger displayed technical mastery en route to a 5-2 win. The redshirt freshman earned another win over Neitenbach of Wyoming following his victory over Conway. The wins punched his ticket to session V tomorrow and a podium spot.
