COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou cross country opens the postseason at home Friday, Oct. 30, hosting the Southeastern Conference Championships at Gans Creek Cross Country Course for the second time in program history. SEC Network will carry both races live from 10–11:30 a.m. CT.

The women’s 6K goes off at 10:08 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K at 10:45 a.m. Team trophies will be presented on the broadcast at 11:24 a.m. (women) and 11:28 a.m. (men), with individual awards to follow at 11:35 a.m. at Greg Hall Champions Plaza. Admission is $5, free for Mizzou students with a valid ID, and live results will be available through PrimeTime Timing.

For the women, Elissa Barnard, Natalie Barnard, Rahel Broemmel, Mirriam Chepkirui, Charlotte Cullen, Maleah Eggers, Evyn Humphrey, Suzy Lecoutre, Emery Mayfield, Kobi Walker, Monica Wanjiku and Morgan Yeomans will represent the Tigers. On the men’s side, Joshua Allison, Joseph Bariola, Tyler Freiner, Jean Kipchumba, Raymond Kipkoech, Emmanuel Kiprop, Ethan Lee, Elijah Limo and Carter Spradling are slated to run.

The women enter the postseason ranked No. 17 in the USTFCCCA National Coaches’ Poll and No. 24 by FloTrack, one of four SEC programs ranked nationally alongside No. 4 Florida, No. 9 Alabama and No. 11 South Carolina.

Picked fifth in the SEC preseason poll, the Tigers have logged multiple finishes above that projection thus far, highlighted by an 80-point win at the Gans Creek Classic to mark the largest margin of victory in meet history for the Tigers. The team also owns a ninth-place finish at the Nuttycombe Invitational, the program’s best in three trips to the premier regular-season meet and the second-highest finish by an SEC team in the field behind Florida. Last year’s fifth-place SEC finish (172 points) was Mizzou’s best since 2019 as the program eyes a podium spot Friday, which would be the women’s first since 2019.

Sophomore Monica Wanjiku enters the meet as the Tigers’ projected top finisher. She was sixth at last year’s SEC Championship in 20:02.2 to earn First Team All-SEC and All-Freshman honors, then placed 35th at the NCAA Championships on the team’s home course, where her 19:17.4 remains the fastest Gans Creek time by a Tiger. The All-American, ranked 44th nationally among individuals by FloTrack, owns six top-20 finishes in seven collegiate races, including a fifth-place 19:18.3 at September’s Gans Creek Classic. No Tiger has won an SEC individual title since Karissa Schweizer in 2017.

The men, picked seventh in the preseason poll, have finished fifth at the SEC meet in each of the last two seasons but return without three scorers from last year’s squad. Sophomore Elijah Limo opened the year with his first collegiate win at the Cyclone Opener and led the Tigers at the Gans Creek Classic (21st, 23:19.1), while freshman Jean Kipchumbapaced Mizzou in his collegiate debut at Nuttycombe (86th, 23:48.9), with Limo one spot behind in 96th (23:54.8). The men finished sixth at the Gans Creek Classic, ahead of Texas, and finished 31st at Nuttycombe, topping Oklahoma.

Five Tigers will run in their final SEC Championships on their home course: fifth-year Tyler Freiner and seniors Joshua Allison, Ethan Lee, Elissa Barnard and Rahel Broemmel. Freiner (23:35.6) and Allison (23:45.4) both set career bests at the Gans Creek Classic five weeks ago, and Broemmel’s 19:38.7 that day was a personal best as well. The last time Mizzou hosted the meet (2021), the men earned a spot on the podium with a third-place finish (105 points), tied for the best SEC finish in program history, while the women finished seventh.

The Tigers also own a string of regular-season head-to-head wins over conference opponents. The women topped Arkansas, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas at the Gans Creek Classic and Oklahoma, Tennessee and Georgia at Nuttycombe, while the men finished ahead of Texas at Gans Creek and Oklahoma at Nuttycombe.

Gans Creek, which opened in 2019 and hosted the 2025 NCAA Division I Championships in front of more than 6,000 fans, is staging its second SEC Championships in Columbia. Spectator parking is $10 per vehicle on Perry Phillips Road, directly across from the course, with overflow parking at the Columbia Sports Fieldhouse.
