Women's Basketball to Host Lincoln in Preseason Exhibition Thursday

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou women’s basketball hosts Lincoln in a preseason exhibition at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at Mizzou Arena. Admission to the contest is free.

The Tigers are 36-2 in exhibition matchups since the 1999-00 season.

Mizzou is headlined by All-SEC honoree Grace Slaughter, who returns for her senior year after ranking 33rd nationally and sixth in the SEC with 18.7 points per game. Slaughter will enter the year 12th on the program’s all-time scoring list. Named to the 2026-27 Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award watch list, she is one of 13 players from the 2023 class to record 1,450-plus points and 445-plus rebounds in their careers.

With a reloaded roster, Mizzou welcomes five top-100 recruits who span both the 2024 and 2025 signing classes.

The Tigers’ 2025 class, which includes Natalya Hodge (No. 54), Khloe Ford (No. 94), Jada Maples (No. 95), Cecilie Brandimore and Ellie Muller, ranks No. 25 nationally, the program’s best since 2018.

Mizzou is one of four SEC teams with five freshmen and has the highest percentage of underclassmen on its roster (61.54%).

Mizzou also bolstered its roster with three transfers: McKenzie Mathurin (Michigan), Nevaeh Caffey (Indiana) and Tanyuel Welch (Arizona).

Caffey started all 32 games and averaged 8.5 points last season with the Hoosiers.

Mathurin appeared in 25 games off the bench and recorded three double-figure scoring games during her freshman season with the Wolverines. She helped guide Michigan to the Elite Eight.

Welch played in 28 games with 19 starts for the Wildcats. She averaged 8.7 points and 5.2 rebounds.

Head coach Kellie Harper enters her second year after leading Mizzou to its most wins since 2017-18. Harper, who earned her 400th career win last season, had the best start by a first-year head coach in program history at 12-3.

Lincoln finished with a 5-22 record last season, including a 3-17 mark in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

The Blue Tigers are led by sophomore Bella Borgos, who averaged 9.1 points per game in her freshman campaign.

Lincoln is coached by Addae Houston, who is in his third year with the program.
