Results

MIAMI, Fla. – The Mizzou men’s golf team closed play at the Bryson Invitational on Wednesday at Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster, led by Trent Mierl’s second-place finish, the best of his career.

Mierl finished at six-under par for the tournament, earning his first top-five finish of the season and the fourth of his career. He closed the final round with a two-under-par 70, recording four birdies to finish runner-up.

Mierl has recorded five straight sub-par rounds for the Tigers.

Veikka Viskari tied for fourth at three-under par, earning his second top-five finish of the season. The finish marked Viskari’s third-consecutive tournament under par as he carded a three-under 69 in the final round, highlighted by five birdies and an eagle on hole 10.

Overall, it marked the first time that two Tigers finished in the top five outside of their home tournament since the Chicago Highlands Invitational in 2023.

Antoni Hawkins placed 28th in the 63-man field at four-over after shooting a 2-under 70 in the final round. The round marked Hawkins’ second under-par round of the season and tied the lowest round of his career.

“It was a good week for us down here,” Mizzou head coach Glen Millican said. “We played solid golf every day and finishing with our best round today was great. Trent and Veikka played really well - five of their six rounds combined being under par on this course is very good playing. Antoni finishing with a strong final round today was great to see as well. He continues to do a really nice job for us as a freshman.”

Paxton Maxwell finished tied for 45th at nine-over, while Esteban Cruz Bonilla placed tied for 55th at 14-over par.

Mizzou finished fifth in the 12-team field at Trump National Doral, led by three Tigers finishing inside the top 30.

“Our guys showed some good composure and each one of them grinded through tough stretches and finishes throughout the week,” Millican said.

Mizzou competes in its final tournament of the fall campaign at the Abilene Christian Intercollegiate in Granbury, Texas, starting next Monday.
