Roberts Tabbed SEC Offensive Player of the Week

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou running back Jamal Roberts earned Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Monday morning following the Tigers' dominant 27-6 win over Texas A&M.

Roberts followed up the first 200-yard game of his career in the win over No. 8 Florida with another career day against the Aggies, rushing for 222 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 34 carries. His 54-yard scoring scamper in the fourth quarter iced the win for the Tigers while PFF credited him with 208 of his 222 yards coming after contact.

Roberts became the first Mizzou player in program history to stack together back-to-back 200-yard rushing performances in addition to becoming just the third SEC running back in the past 20 seasons to do so, joining Derrick Henry (Alabama) and Leonard Fournette (LSU) who both accomplished the feat in 2015.

The St. Louis native leads the SEC and ranks second nationally in total rushing yards, gaining 828 yards and scoring eight touchdowns on 147 carries through six games. For the season, Roberts leads the nation with 673 yards after contact, according to PFF.

Next up, No. 13 Missouri hits the road for a ranked SEC matchup versus No. 9 Ole Miss in Oxford, Mississippi, on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 2:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
