COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou women’s golf closed out a dominant performance on Tuesday at The Club at Old Hawthorne, capturing the team title at the Johnie Imes Invitational by 32 strokes after firing a tournament-best 13-under-par 275 in the final round.
The Tigers followed up their opening-day rounds of 283 (-5) and 284 (-4) to finish at 22-under par (842). Mizzou comfortably distanced itself from runner-up Missouri State (+10) and third-place West Georgia (+32).
Four Tigers finished inside the top five, as Mizzou claimed both the individual and team championships at the Johnie Imes Invitational for the first time since 2018. The team title marks Mizzou’s 11th Johnie Imes Invitational championship since 2007.
Leading the team effort was senior Addie Dobson, who delivered a historic performance to claim her first individual championship. Dobson finished the 54-hole event with a total score of 15-under par (201), tying the tournament record for an individual-low score.
Starting the final round with a six-stroke lead following Monday's 10-under effort, Dobson maintained her pace by firing a 5-under 67 on Tuesday. In the first tournament of her season, the senior recorded the lowest 54-hole round score of her career. Dobson’s 201 ties Mizzou golfer Jess Meek’s 2015 score for the tournament record.
Senior Melanie Walker solidified a 1-2 sweep at the top of the individual leaderboard for Mizzou. Walker shot a 1-under 71 in her final round to take second place overall at 5-under par (211). The finish marks the seventh time Walker has finished inside a tournament top five individually.
Junior Alexandra Berglund saved her best round for Tuesday, surging up four spots into third place individually with a 4-under 68, tied for the best-round of her career. Berglund’s three-round score of 213 marks the best tournament score of her career and her first top five finish.
