COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou women's golf sits atop the leaderboard following the opening day of the Johnie Imes Invitational, as the Tigers carded a two-round score of 9-under par Monday at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
Missouri opened the tournament with a 5-under-par 283 in the first round before following with a 4-under 284 in the second round to finish the day at 9-under (567). The Tigers hold the team lead heading into Tuesday's final round.
Leading the way for the Tigers was senior Addie Dobson, who sits atop the individual leaderboard at 10-under par through two rounds. Dobson opened her first round of the season with a career-low-tying 6-under 66 before a 4-under 68 in the second round. Her 9-under 135 total gives her a six-stroke advantage heading into the final round.
Senior Melanie Walker also finished her season-opening day strong, sitting in second place individually after carding matching rounds of 2-under 70 to sit at 4-under par. Walker recorded seven birdies across her first two rounds.
Sophomore Addie Surber closed the day in sixth individually with an even par across both rounds. Surber posted six birdies while competing as an individual.
Junior Alexandra Berglund finished just behind Surber in seventh place at 1-over par. Berglund carded rounds of 72 and 73 to help the Tigers maintain the team lead heading into the final round.
Senior Fleur van Beek followed in 12th place at 4-over par after recording rounds of 75 and 73. Her second round, highlighted by two birdies, helped her climb the individual leaderboard during the afternoon round.
Freshman Page Bowman recorded rounds of 79 and 77 to finish the day tied for 26th at 12-over.
Competing individually for the Tigers, sophomore Grace Crawford and freshman Nina Andersen also took part in Monday's action. Crawford finished the day tied for ninth at 5-over par, while Andersen sits tied for 38th at 16-over par.
Missouri returns to action Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. for the final round of the Johnie Imes Invitational.
