Men’s Golf Climbs to Fifth Behind Strong Round From Viskari

MUSKOKA LAKES, Ontario — Mizzou men's golf climbed the leaderboard Tuesday at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational, carding a 1-over 285 in the second round at Oviinbyrd Golf Club. The Tigers sit fifth in the 13-team field at 10-over par heading into the final round.

Senior Veikka Viskari delivered his best round of the season Tuesday to lead the Tigers, firing a 5-under 66. Viskari recorded a 1-under 34 on the front nine before closing with a 4-under 32 on the back, finishing his round with four birdies and an eagle on hole 10. Following the day, Viskari moved to 3-under for the tournament, rising 16 spots and placing him tied for ninth individually heading into Wednesday's final round.

Junior Trent Mierl followed with another strong performance with an even-par 71, keeping him at +1 for the tournament. Mierl posted two birdies on the back nine as he climbed to 14th individually in the tournament.

Junior Paxton Maxwell carded a 1-over 72 to move to 5-over for the tournament, rising to 26th individually in the 73-man field. Senior Brock Snyder posted a 5-over 76 and sits at 9-over heading into the final round.

Freshman Antoni Hawkins finished his second round with a 6-over 77 and enters the final round at 8-over, while Andy Yang, competing as an individual, carded an 8-over 79.

Mizzou enters Wednesday’s final round in fifth place and firmly in the mix for a top finish, sitting at 10-over par heading into the final 18 holes at Oviinbyrd Golf Club.
