MUSKOKA LAKES, Ontario – The Mizzou men’s golf team opened the Canadian Collegiate Invitational on Sunday at Öviinbyrd Golf Club, with the Tigers putting together a strong start to the three-day tournament.

Junior Trent Mierl led the Tigers in the opening round, carding a one-over 72 to sit tied in 17th place on the individual leaderboard. Mierl recorded a 36 on each nine, highlighted by an eagle on the fourth hole, to pace Mizzou.

Senior Veikka Viskari and freshman Antoni Hawkins sit just behind Mierl at two-over par. Viskari carded a 73, paced by an even-par 35 on the front nine, while Hawkins also posted a 73 with an even-par 36 on the back nine.

Juniors Brock Snyder and Paxton Maxwell both finished at four-over 75 to round out the Tigers’ scoring lineup. 

Competing individually, junior Andy Yang scored a five-over 76, carding three birdies.

Mizzou sits seventh in the 13-team field following the opening round. The Tigers return to Öviinbyrd Golf Club Monday morning for the second round of the Canadian Collegiate Invitational before wrapping up the tournament with the final round Tuesday.
