COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou wrestling head coach Brian Smith announced the promotion of Jarrett Jacques to Director of Operations for the program on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Jacques has served as the recruiting coordinator since August 2024.

“I am very excited to move into this new role with Mizzou wrestling, and I’m thankful to coach Smith for giving me this opportunity,” Jacques said. “From my time as a student-athlete, to being recruiting coordinator, to now, I look forward to continuing to elevate Tiger Style for the next generation of Tigers.”

Coach Smith added, “First, I recruited Jarrett, then I coached him, and then I hired him. Now we are elevating him to a full-time role, and it’s exciting because we have gotten to watch him grow; he buys into Tiger Style and what this program can do for young men.”

Jacques spent five seasons (2018-23) in Black and Gold, amassing a 102-40 record and tying him for 26th in the program in career wins. Jacques is a five-time NCAA qualifier and a 2019 Mid-American Conference Champion at 157 pounds.

After graduating, Jacques turned his focus to freestyle and international competition. Wrestling at 74kg, he placed fourth at the 2023 U.S. Open, Bill Farrell, Senior Nationals and again at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. His fourth-place finish at the Olympic Team Trials earned him a spot on the U.S. National Team for the first time in his career. The following year, he defeated Joey Blaze at 2025 Final X to make his second consecutive U.S. National Team. He also holds a win over Hungary’s Ismail Musukaev, a 2024 Olympian, 2023 World Champion and 2022 European Champion.

Jacques graduated from Missouri in 2022 with a degree in communication. He married his wife, Devin, in the summer of 2023, and earned his masters in positive coaching in 2024.
