Mizzou Unveils Throwback Football Uniforms for Memorial Stadium 100th Anniversary Game

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Mizzou Athletics unveiled today a special throwback football uniform that the Tigers will wear Sept. 19 against Troy as part of the 100th Anniversary Game celebrating Memorial Stadium’s centennial milestone.

Crafted to honor the history of Mizzou Football, the newly designed uniforms capture vintage snapshots of the program across several defining eras. Each element was intentionally selected to represent a distinct chapter in the Tigers’ history while creating a classic, cohesive look for the Centennial celebration.

The uniform incorporates the following historical elements:

The black jersey features a classic M logo that represents the 1920s, when Memorial Stadium was first constructed and launched Missouri’s program into an impactful new era.

The jersey does not feature MISSOURI or MIZZOU across the chest, harkening back to the program’s earlier eras before the team name was added in the 1980s, as well as later periods in the 1990s and 2020s when Tigers jerseys again featured a clean, understated look.

The black, gold and white stripes on the sleeves celebrates the 1970s, when the Tigers emerged from the defensive dominated 1960s with a modernized, high-powered offensive attack featuring star power of Phil Bradley, Kellen Winslow and James Wilder.

The Block M first appeared on the Mizzou helmet in 1971, reflected by the narrow type and gray facemask. The Block M, with many looks over several decades, represents a historic look that evolved over the second half of the 20th Century and into the new millennium.

The helmet’s front bumper features the six Ionic-style Columns of Mizzou’s Francis Quadrangle, which have stood as a symbol of the University since 1892 — two years after the birth of Missouri Football.

The uniform pants represent the historic shade of gold the Tigers wore up until the 21st Century.

The result is a uniform that brings together visual elements from across a century of Mizzou Football, connecting the program's past with its present as the Tigers begin the next 100 years of Memorial Stadium history.

The Sept. 19 game against Troy will serve as the centerpiece of Mizzou's Memorial Stadium 100th Anniversary celebration, commemorating the opening of the stadium in 1926. The game is set for 11:45 a.m. on SEC Network+.

Fans can purchase a special Centennial Celebration Ticket Package that includes four tickets and one parking pass for $100 at THIS LINK.

A special line of Nike merchandise inspired by the throwback uniforms is on sale now at shop.mutigers.com and will be available at the soon-to-be-completed new Tiger Team Store inside Memorial Stadium, giving fans an opportunity to commemorate the Centennial celebration with apparel featuring the historic design elements.
