COLUMBIA, Mo. – Mizzou tennis head coach Robin Goodman announced the signing of Irina Anghel (Bucharest, Romania/Colegiul National Emil Racovita) to the 2026-27 roster on Tuesday.

“We are excited to welcome Irina to our family. She is a fantastic player who brings extensive pro tour experience to our program. During the recruiting process, she showed tremendous dedication and commitment to her tennis development. She has big goals of a future career on the pro tour, and we would love to help her on that journey.

Not only is she a great player and an excellent student, as a person, she is very professional, down-to-earth and honest. The community here in Columbia will be excited to get to know Irina.”

Anghel comes to Missouri having made the WTT W35 semifinal in doubles on June 21 in Sweden and two W15 finals appearances. The Romania native holds a 551 doubles ranking by the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) and a World Tennis ranking of 490. Moreover, she currently maintains a Universal Tennis Ranking (UTR) of 9.75 in singles and 10.42 in doubles.

The incoming freshman trained at Nastase & Marica Tennis Club under Patrick Grigoriu and was a swimmer for over six years growing up.
